Magical

Ahh the colours are fabulous, it just has such a positive vibe! A very strong creative piece, not to mention your obvious technical skill. Going on my favourites for sure.

conundrummer responds:

Thank you very much. I didn't set out to give this a positive vibe, but it happened anyway and I'm glad it did.

Great effort

I like your brush-strokes on the hair. what media did you use? i can see you've really paid attention to the highlights and shadows of your face, it definitely has paid off. next time go a step further and be more daring with the lines and shadows, you could really take your art to the next level.

itsKris responds:

This was drawn in photoshop with my tablet :) Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion. Halfway through this piece I had actually thought to maybe change it from a simple self portrait to something a little crazier, but decided against it (I didn't want to accidentally ruin something I thought was turning out so well) but I'll try something bolder for my next artwork and we'll see how that turns out :D

I absolutely love how you can create a transition so accurately, you got skilllllls. This is something I would love to do/put on my wall.

thanks Bryony. it started out as a very random sketch. didn't know where i was going. i'm trying to make some shirts outta my stuff. maybe even posters who knows (:. thanks again!

You've definitely got some cool ideas and you're developing, but try to spend some more time to take them from doodles and sketches to full blown artistic pieces. Think about anatomy and do some still life studies of animals.

Actionsquid responds:

Hey, I do LOTS of that stuff. These are my freedom pieces, taking 10 minutes or less. Anatomy is certainly a part of these creatures' development. I don't draw without considering things such as 'where does the food go?' and 'is this balanced?' and so on. If you want full blown, check out my non-experiment art work.

Great first attempt

I'm still struggling to get foamboard printing right, major kudos for getting such effective results using a complex first time lino print. How many layers did you use? Also very true, always cut away!

SPace responds:

wow cutting foamboard must be awful. this is only 3 layers. if i have time to do another one i think i may step up to 5 or 6 but i kinda like the look of flatness with only a few layers. thanks for the review good luck with the foam!

Very nice

I agree, it does have an element of Burton to it, but I think you have developed your own style well. I like the feel of animation with such a realistic look from the standard of painting. I'd like to see something like this in watercolour, maybe a bit more contrasting shades and tones would have worked best with the acrylic.

Syringes responds:

Thank you ^__^

Yea, I find watercolor to be hard because we cant paint over mistakes but I might try it aye :'D
